Important Update: BRP Expiry and eVisa Transition

The Home Office has confirmed that Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs), set to expire on 31 December 2024 as part of the UK’s transition to a fully digital immigration system, can still be used as proof of UK entry permission until 31 March 2025.

This update, announced on 4 December 2024, allows airlines to accept BRPs with a 31 December 2024 expiry date for travel to the UK until the end of March 2025. The Home Office will keep this deadline under review and may extend it if needed.

Travelers holding an eVisa are now advised to generate a “share code” before departure to present to airlines as proof of UK entry permission.

For the latest updates, refer to the Home Office’s official guidance.
