Our Everyday English and Cultural Awareness courses continue to make a significant impact, supporting newly arrived international care workers as they assimilate into life and work in the UK. This autumn, we repeated our successful Level 1 course and introduced a brand-new Level 2 course, providing an opportunity for participants to build on their skills and deepen their understanding of cultural differences.
Both courses ran from October to December, consisting of six 1.5-hour weekly sessions, and saw 67 learners successfully complete the training. The courses are a key component of SESCA’s International Recruitment Project and are offered free of charge to providers as part of their commitment to supporting international recruits.
Key Highlights from the Evaluations
- Level 1: 97.8% of respondents would recommend the course, with 86.7% rating the content 5/5.
- Level 2: 100% of participants would recommend the course, with 95.5% rating the structure 5/5.
Participants reported significant improvements in communication skills, cultural awareness, and workplace confidence, with the feedback highlighting the effectiveness of Baz, the trainer, in delivering engaging and impactful sessions.
More Training in 2025
The success of these courses has inspired us to continue the program in January 2025, with sessions primarily focused on international recruits who have become displaced due to their sponsors losing licenses. Providers will also have the opportunity to enroll their international recruits, ensuring broader access to this vital training.
We are proud to support the professional and personal development of international care workers and look forward to welcoming a new cohort of learners in the new year.
