Displaced Migrant Care Worker Sponsorship Update
- 36 sponsored placements secured through the scheme.
- Over 150 care providers approved so far.
- Up to £5,000 in funding per worker to support recruitment costs.
- Positive feedback from a Sussex-based provider highlighting the success of the initiative.
New Immigration Rules for Care Workers Announced
- Minimum Salary Increase: £12.82 per hour (£25,000 per year) for newly sponsored care workers from 9 April 2025.
- Existing Sponsored Workers: Must be paid at least £12.21 per hour from 9 April, in line with National Minimum Wage.
- Prioritisation of UK-Based Workers: Employers must attempt to recruit international care workers already in the UK before hiring from overseas.
- Crackdown on Exploitation: Over 470 sponsor licences revoked since July 2022, affecting 39,000 workers.
Buddying Workshops: A Resounding Success!
- Two workshops delivered in partnership with Tresacare to train care provider staff on supporting international recruits.
- 95% of participants felt more confident in their buddying role.
- 95% rated the training as Good or Excellent.

- Employability Readiness Webinars – CV writing, applications, and interview prep.
- Weekly Peer Support Drop-ins – Safe spaces for care workers to connect and share experiences.
- 8-Week Pastoral Support Programme – Wellbeing activities including meditation, yoga, and mindfulness.
International Recruitment Webinar Series – Another Great Success!
- Three-part webinar series delivered with Lester Aldridge Solicitors.
- 40-50 care providers attended each session.
- 93% Satisfaction Rating – Positive feedback and strong demand for further support.
