Support for displaced care workers in the South East

Here, we outline opportunities for displaced overseas carers living in the South East, who have lost their sponsorship due to their sponsor’s licence being revoked, to find new sponsorship with reputable care providers in the South East.

Here to help

If you are a “displaced care worker” – an overseas care worker with a Health & Care Worker Visa, living in the south east, who has lost their sponsorship due to their sponsor’s license being revoked – SESCA is here to help.

Through the Department of Health and Social Care 2024-2026 International Recruitment Fund, we are assisting displaced care workers to find new sponsorship with reputable adult social care providers operating in the South-East. We are also providing support to sponsors for recruitment, training, and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition into your new role.

If you are seeking alternative sponsored employment but your employer’s sponsor licence has not been revoked, please refer to our Finding a New Sponsor section for guidance.

Important project update

March 2026

SESCA’s Displaced Care Worker Recruitment Support Scheme is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). Funding is currently confirmed until 31 March 2026. We are awaiting formal confirmation regarding funding for the 2026–27 financial year, which would allow the scheme to continue until March 2027.

Increased Demand for Support

We are experiencing a significant rise in applications following increased compliance activity by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), which has resulted in more sponsor licence revocations and, consequently, more displaced care workers seeking support.

Due to this surge in demand — particularly during the end-of-financial-year period — response times are currently longer than usual.

Temporary Processing Arrangements

While we await confirmation of funding and updated guidance for 2026–27, we will:

  • Continue to accept applications from eligible displaced care workers;

  • Triage all applications received; and

  • Prioritise urgent cases where possible.

However, we may not be able to progress all applications immediately.

We will be making some changes to the support we offer and to the way we collect application information once DHSC issues formal guidance to regional partnerships for 2026–27. This will help ensure we can respond as quickly as possible to everyone seeking assistance.

Once funding and delivery arrangements are confirmed, we will respond to applications in the order they were received.
