Course Overview

The ‘Care Certificate with English Language Support’ course, provided by Penguin Training, a Skills for Care endorsed training company, not only comprehensively covers all the knowledge requirements of the Care Certificate but is also customized to cater to the unique needs of overseas care workers who may not have English as their first language. In addressing potential challenges arising from limited understanding of specific aspects and terminology, the course offers additional support, particularly in sections of the Care Certificate related to communication.

This course significantly streamlines the Care Certificate induction process for sponsoring employers. It encompasses all the theoretical aspects of the Care Certificate, allowing employers to focus solely on delivering the practical components. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate certifying their achievement of the fundamental knowledge needed for the Care Certificate, aligning with Skills for Care standards. Employers also receive a comprehensive “observation criteria checklist” detailing the practical components that must be fulfilled before issuing the official Care Certificate.

Course Delivery

The course is tutor-led, delivered online over 4 days, and covers the 15 standards set out in the Care Certificate, together with additional training in Medication and Moving & Handling.

The delivery method incorporates a combination of tutor-led sessions complemented by PowerPoint presentations featuring quizzes, videos, and interactive activities. Tutors actively foster engagement by encouraging participants to interact, while also utilizing the “raised hand” feature. They carefully maintain a pace that ensures everyone can contribute to the chat before advancing. Additionally, one-to-one support calls play a pivotal role in ensuring that all participants successfully achieve the required learning outcomes.
